IEEE NHCE Global Overview

The IEEE Student Branch of New Horizon College of Engineering is the largest student branch in the IEEE Bangalore Section. The IEEE Bangalore Section is governed by the IEEE India Council, which falls under Region 10 of the IEEE Global Organization.

About IEEE Bangalore Section

The IEEE – Bangalore Section was established in 1977 and is one of the vibrant Sections in India. Over the years the strength of the section has grown steadily. This membership is spread across various sectors and is a nice blend of Industry, Academia and Research organizations.

Bangalore Section has 16 Society Chapters and two affinity groups. The Chapters carry out focused activities in the respective area by way of conducting technical talks under DLT, Seminars, Tutorials, workshops etc. Apart from the Chapters two affinity groups viz. the Graduate of the Last Decade (GOLD) and Women In Engineering (WIE) also carry out related activities. IEEE Bangalore and IEEE Princeton and Central New Jersey Sections had signed a MoU as sister sections.

Close to half of the Section’s strength are Student Members spread over the various Student Branches in Karnataka. The various graduate and post-graduate engineering colleges and these units conduct technical talks, TechFests etc. A dedicated Student Paper contest, Technical Colloquium and Student Leadership Workshop are some of the major events conducted under Student Activities of the Section. Under Technology for Humanitarian challenge, a new initiative named All India Young Engineers’ Humanitarian Challenge (AIYEHUM) is organized by the Section. This initiative aims at helping students recognize real world/humanitarian challenges and Nurture innovative ideas of students by mentoring their implementation approach.
