WORKSHOPS CONDUCTED SO FAR THROUGH
TECH IN MED
WORKSHOP SERIES

MedX'23 launched with a vibrant workshop exploring the initial stages of medical research project development. Mr. Jathurshan Predeepkumar, Post Baccalaureate Fellow, Center for Advanced Imaging, Harvard University and Mr. Kithmin Wikramasinghe, MASC Student in Electrical and Computer Eng, UBC, Canada guided participants through brainstorming, planning, and budgetary considerations, equipping them with essential tools to transform their visionary ideas into concrete proposals.

Building upon the momentum of the first workshop, Mr. Kosala Jayasundara, Founding Executive Director of ExcelTech OU delved into the critical realm of feasibility assessment. Participants gained vital insights into market viability, cost analysis, and ethical considerations, preparing their innovative pursuits for successful translation into tangible healthcare solutions.

Who is organizing MedX?

The Faculty of Medicine, University of Moratuwa, the newest addition to the state medical faculties in Sri Lanka, in collaboration with the Department of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering (ENTC) of the Faculty of Engineering have established the “MedEngi Collaboration Committee” with aims of revolutionizing the healthcare sector through shared expertise. The former being the only medical faculty that offers “Medical Technology” as a part of their curriculum in hopes of producing graduates that excel in modern healthcare. In 2015 the ENTC established the IEEE EMBS Student Branch Chapter as an affiliate student body of IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society (EMBS) which is the world’s largest international society of biomedical engineers.

ABOUT THE
