IEEEXtreme, a 24-Hours International Programming Competition in which was held on October 24, 2015 – hosted by Institute of Information Technology, Jahangirnagar University. This is a global challenge in which teams of IEEE Student members – advised and proctored by an IEEE member and often supported by an IEEE Student Branch, compete in a 24-hour time span against each other to solve a set of programming problems. This year IEEE Student Branch- Jahangirnagar University (IEEEJUSB) organized this event centrally for the IEEE Bangladesh Section.

More than 2400 teams of programmers from all around the globe – including 12 teams from 4 universities of Bangladesh participated in IEEEXtreme v9.0 this year. In Bangladesh, Rajshahi University of Engineering & Technology (RUET), University of Dhaka (DU), Jahangirnagar University (JU) and United International University (UIU) participated in this event.IEEEXtreme JU

Beside the programming competition, IEEEJUSB organized a few supporting events such as Rally, Technical Talk, Quiz Contest, IEEEXtreme Slideshow and a prize giving ceremony for the winners of the quiz contest. Mr. M. Manjur Mahmud – Director & COO of Datasoft Systems Bangladesh Ltd. talked about skill development issues in problem solving as the invited speaker.

Mr. Nasimunnobi – an ambassador of IEEEXtreme in Bangladesh Section, Dr. M. Shamim Kaiser – Chair of IEEE Bangladesh Section Student Activity, Mr. Zamshed Iqbal Chowdhury- Branch Counselor, IEEEJUSB, Sayed Mohsin Reza- Branch Chair, IEEEJUSB and Md. Mahfujur Rahman- Branch General Secretary, IEEEJUSB were present during these events. After 24 hours of rigorous programming problem solving challenges, JUIITCoders – the only team from Jahangirnagar University secured 7th place in the world ranking published by IEEEXtreme v9.0. The team comprised of Mr. Nafis Sadique, Mr. Niloy Dutta and Mr. Ahemdur Rahman Shovon – students of Institute of Information Technology, Jahangirnagar University. This team is also ranked at 1st place in Asia and Pacific(Region 10), according to the result published by IEEE.
