History
IEEE Power and Energy Society Student Branch chapter at IIT Kanpur (IEEE PES SBC IITK) was founded in 2017.
Within two years of its inception, the chapter has imprinted its name among one of the most active chapters of the section.
Currently, the chapter has 40+ members, most of which are graduate student members.
Background
PES SBC IIT Kanpur is fortunate to have a team of very dedicated volunteers. It is the result of their hardwork and perseverance that since its inception in 2017, the chapter has organised 50+ events covering a wide spectrum of IEEE activities. These activities include technical and non-technical activities, administrative and humanitarian affairs, social events and so on.
A few significant activities by the chapter include PERA18 and UP PES IAS Congress 2019. PERA18 (Power Engineering Research and Application, 2018), a three-day national workshop related to real-time digital simulation, was the first version of the flagship event of IEEE PES/IAS Chapter UP Section.
Likewise, UP PES IAS Congress is also a flagship event of this chapter, whose first version was organized in 2019.
The success story of the chapter is also marked by multiple achievements and recognition. In 2019, the advisor of the chapter (Dr. Sandeep Anand) received the "Best Counselor/Advisor Award" from IEEE UP Section. Mr. Ankit Yadav (Chairperson) received "Outstanding Volunteer Award 2019" from IEEE India Council. In addition, Mr. Vineeth V (Past Chairperson), Mr. Akhilesh Prakash Gupta (Vice-Chair) and Mr Ankit Yadav has been selected/nominated by different IEEE OUs to attend multiple international congress/conferences/meetings.
