IBM T.J. Watson Research Center

The IBM T.J. Watson Research Center has given engineers the opportunity to pioneer techniques and innovations over the last 35 years. The Research Center received the IEEE Corporate Innovation Recognition for long-term commitment to pioneering research, innovative development and commercialization of speech recognition. Also in 2009, IEEE honored one of the research center’s top minds, Peter Franaszek with the IEEE Richard W. Hamming Medal. Franaszek worked on the constrained coding techniques that fueled the success of CDs and DVDs for storing digital information.
