ABOUT

Women in Engineering (WIE) is one of the largest international professional organizations dedicated to promoting women engineers and scientists and inspiring women around the world to follow their academic interests and build a career in engineering.

WIEHack is a 24-hour all-women development hackathon organized for the first time by BVPIEEE-WIE.


OUR AGENDA

To inspire girls in engineering to learn to programme so they can reverse the labor market statistics in the future. In a friendly environment, where girls will not be excluded, fun and creativity are things, that count the most.

Moreover, our event aims at inculcating the following skills:

  • Sharpen public speaking/presentation skills among women at the workplace.
  • Foster teamwork.
  • Learn about new technologies
  • Network and Fun! 

THEME

As an ardent supporter of gender equality, we believe in creating more opportunities for women to enter the tech sector with an aim to amend their under-representation in the wider industry.
The theme of the event will focus on Socio-economic problems faced by women like their security and has the goal of using technology for the betterment of the society.


CHALLENGE

The competition will be conducted in three stages, the first of which will require the participants to submit a written proposal explaining their idea at the end of 2 hours from commencement. After this, the teams will go ahead with the implementation. Participants will be free to choose any programming language and development platform. In addition, competitive coding questions will be uploaded every two hours for scoring brownie points. The last two hours will be for evaluation. All teams will be required to submit their final code online and make a presentation. Based on the evaluation criteria, the winning teams as decided by the judges will be declared.

Participate as a team of 2 to 4 members and win prizes worth 1 Lakh! Cross-college teams are allowed.
The screening will be done based on Github and/or LinkedIn profiles and past experience.

So pack your overnight bags, and prepare for a day of code and coffee!
Food and bedding will be arranged for the participating teams on the day of the event.
