IEEE BUET Student Branch has successfully organized “Membership Drive 2020” with a view to recruiting new potential student members and giving the existing members an opportunity to renew their membership. Like previous years, a huge response was received from the freshly admitted students as well as existing IEEE members. Throughout the entire membership drive week, the campus was filled with zealous students getting familiar with IEEE, filling up forms and becoming a part of the biggest technical organization for engineers and professionals.

Preceding the membership drive week, an orientation program was arranged to brief the newly admitted students about IEEE and its edge in both student life and professional career. Following the briefing, the Membership Drive took place from Saturday, March 7, 2020 to Wednesday, March 11, 2020. A membership booth was set up in the plinth of ECE building, BUET from where students could collect their membership forms and make their payments. The amount of eager students crowding the booth almost every day was overwhelming.

During the overall membership drive, we successfully recruited 57 new members and 8 existing members renewed their membership. All these members were given free membership of Women in Engineering (WIE) and Industrial Applications Society (IAS). PES membership was also free for all the new members. Members were also recruited for IEEE SPS, EDS, RAS, CS BUET Student Branch Chapters.

Through a successful membership drive, IEEE BUET Student Branch aims to organize events for the members to get more connected to IEEE and be benefitted in terms of knowledge and technical work. IEEE BUET Student Branch looks forward to involving more potential student members in future and keep them updated to what is happening in their respective fields throughout the world.
