IEEE BUET Student Branch and IEEE WIE BUET SB Affinity Group organized a workshop on “Writing Scientific Article using LaTeX” on 5 July 2020 through the online platform Zoom. This was the third episode of “SKILLSHOP” – series workshops on software skill development for the core improvement of students in the quarantine period. The session was conducted by Irtiza Haque, Treasurer, IEEE WIE Bangladesh Section, and Lead Engineer, IT department of the Grameenphone LTD. 55 participants, all from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology attended the workshop, nearly 75% of whom were IEEE members.

The Participants were asked to join 15 minutes earlier. The online platform was made accessible to the participants at 02:45 PM. The workshop commenced at 03:00 PM. The participants were provided with two online copies of LaTeX script that were used during the workshop so that everyone could compile the scripts written by Irtiza Haque in real-time on their machines. Irtiza Haque instructed the participants on how to format mathematical expressions, texts, arrays, tables, and a lot more on LaTeX. Later, she inspired them to use IEEE Standard Templates for writing technical papers with a brief demo. The tutorial ended with a brief question-answering session.

After the tutorial session ended, Satyaki Banik and Suhee Sanjana Mehjabin provided the participants with a feedback form.
