Two consecutive seminars on recent topics of power and energy systems would be held on August 16, 2016 Tuesday at 3:30pm at Seminar Room, honorable Vice Chancellor’s office, AUST.
The seminars will be jointly organized by IEEE AUST student branch and IEEE PES Bangladesh chapter.

Professor Abu Hamed M. Abdur-Rahim did his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from University of Alberta, Edmonton, Canada in 1972. Since his Ph.D., he has worked at the University of Alberta, Edmonton, Bangladesh University of Engineering, Dhaka, University of Strathclyde, UK, University of Bahrain, DeVry Institute of Technology, Calgary, Canada, University of Calgary, Canada, University of Petroleum and Minerals, Dhahran, Saudi Arabia and Ahsanullah University of Science & Technology, where he is a Professor now.
Dr. Rahim’s main areas of interest are power system, control theory and artificial intelligence. He has published more than 150 articles in various journals and conferences. He has also 4 U.S. patents. Dr. Rahim is a Fellow of the Institute of Engineers, Bangladesh and a Life Senior Member of the IEEE.
Mr. Anam has more than a decade of successful experience across the value chain of energy sector development of Bangladesh, both for conventional and non-conventional energy. Anam worked in key Bangladesh government energy agencies like Power Ministry as Technical Assistant to the Minister and Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) as Planning and Design Engineer, Operation Engineer.
Anam also served as clean energy expert in SNV Netherlands Development Organisation and Power Cell, a World Bank funded TA project. Anam led two USAID funded Projects in Bangladesh on Low Emission Development and GHG Inventory Management on behalf of ICF International, USA. He also served as National Lead in Bangladesh for ADB Energy for All Program and Global Alliance for Clean Cookstoves (GACC).
Anam is now serving as the Deputy Programme Coordinator (DV) of Sustainable Energy for Development (SED) Programme in Bangladesh implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft fϋr Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH. He is also appointed as Programme Coordinator for the preparatory phase of another GIZ project on Energy Efficiency improvement and grid integration of solar. Anam played important role in drafting several policies/ guidelines of the Bangladesh government on sustainable energy development.
An Engineer by background, Anam completed his Masters in Energy and Environmental Management from Netherlands and Graduate Research Internship from UNEP Risoe Centre, Denmark. Anam is also an ‘Emerging Leaders’ alumni from John F Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University. A committed professional with extensive experience of successful feasibility studies, policy studies and clean energy interventions, Anam envisions contributing more to Bangladesh’s ambition of becoming middle income country through sustainable energy delivery.
