IEEE AUST Student Branch

IEEE AUST Student Branch (Geo Code – STB63101) is the student branch of IEEE in Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology, Dhaka. It is the only professional and international student organization in AUST and has brought glory with achievements in both national and international events. Formed in 2003, IEEE AUST Student Branch is the first student branch in a private university and 4th student branch to be formed throughout the country. Through organizing various technical workshops, seminars, networking events, meetings, contests and industrial tours, IEEE AUST Student Branch promises to enhance the professional qualities of the students and help students develop a sense of responsibility towards humanity.

Mission of IEEE AUST Student Branch

The mission IEEE AUST Student Branch is to help students develop knowledge about technological innovation and flourish excellence in the field of electrical and electronic devices and in computer technologies.

Vision of IEEE AUST Student Branch

IEEE AUST Student Branch has a vision to be beneficial for students to get connected with global technical community, technical professionals everywhere. The students will build up leadership quality through the vast existing network which will help them to improve global conditions and also humanity.

IEEE Bangladesh Section

The IEEE Bangladesh section is the local branch of IEEE, New Jersey, USA. The IEEE headquarter in New Jersey approved the Bangladesh Section on 20th November 1993 and the GEO code is R00073. From only 54 founding members, IEEE Bangladesh Section has now grown to a family of over 2300 members. It has become one of the most active sections not only in Region 10 but also all over the world, which is proved by numerous accolades and recognitions.

IEEE Region 10

The IEEE Region 10, referred as the Asia Pacific Region and created on 1st January, 1967. At present Region 10 comprises of 57 Sections, 6 Councils, 17 Sub-sections, 515 Chapters, 60 Affinity Groups and 958 Student Branches. It covers a geographical area stretching from South Korea and Japan in the north-east to New Zealand in the south, and Bangladesh, Pakistan in the west. With a membership of over 107154, it is one of the largest regions in IEEE. At present Kukjin Chun is the IEEE R10 Director.

The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Incorporated (IEEE) is a non-profit corporation, incorporated in the state of New York on 16 March 1896. The beginning of the organization dates back to 1884 as the AIEE ( American Institute of electrical Engineers ). In 1963 the AIEE and IRE (Institute of Radio Engineers,1912) merged together to form the IEEE. Now IEEE is the largest technical & professional society with more than 425,000 members in more than 160 countries & 334 sections in 10 geographic regions worldwide. To inspire students to contribute to the humanity, IEEE has over 117,000 student members in 3005 student branches, 2116 student branch chapters and 486 affinity groups at colleges and universities in 100 countries.

The IEEE is a leading authority on advancing technology and serves with 39 Societies and seven technical councils representing the wide range of IEEE technical interests. With over 1,300 active standards and more than 500 standards under development, 4 million documents in the IEEE Xplore® Digital Library, with more than 8 million downloads each month, publishing over approximately 200 transactions, journals, and magazines, sponsoring more than 1,800 conferences in 95 countries, IEEE is pioneering the advancement of technology.

For the year of 2017, Karen Bartleson is the President and CEO of IEEE and James A. Jefferies is the President-Elect of IEEE worldwide.
