Event: Hybrid cars
Club: IEEE PELS
The student branch of IEEE Power Electronics Society, Amrita School of Engineering (ASE),Bangalore, organised a talk on 16th February 2018 on “Hybrid cars”. The lecture was delivered by Dr.K.Deepa, Assistant Professor, Dept. Of EEE, and had about 58 members attending.
The session began with a welcome speech by the Secretary of IEEE PELS, ASE Bangalore. Dr.K.Deepa then started the lecture by giving the audience a glimpse into Renewable energy sources and the evolution of hybrid cars (started 1839). She suggested that in cities like Bengaluru, hybrid cars are easy to maintain and therefore, for long distances, charging stations need to be provided. The speaker further discussed Regenerative Braking with a l brief description of hybrid car model and its working. She gave an insight to the degree of hybridization and variants of hybrid cars (parallel hybrid, series hybrid). The main focus point throughout the talk was the future of hybrid cars, to motivate students to go further on this area of research.
The session concluded with a vote of thanks and felicitation by Treasurer IEEE PELS SBC of Amrita. The session was very interactive and fruitful.
