This tutorial is intended for electrical engineers and operators involved in the safety and integrity aspects of industrial and microgrids of large commercial electrical systems during their different design, commissioning and operational stages. The tutorial introduces definitions for an operational language and discusses lockout/tagout (LO/TO), switching procedures, safety and reliability aspects as imbedded in the design stage and system architecture development, related safety standards and computer and software applications associated with such aspects.
