The Student Electronic Circuit Design Competition is sponsored by Region 5 IEEE.  The competition provides a specific technical problem for a student team to solve.

Date: Saturday Morning & Afternoon, April 5, 2014

Location: Texas A&M—Corpus Christi Campus, College of Engineering;  Bus transportation will be provided to and from the Omni hotel. Directions for those driving can be found here.

Time: Orientation 8:00 am

Design Problem: Problem is provided to the teams at orientation.

Eligibility and Cost: IEEE student members (undergraduate only) who are registered for the R5 Conference. A team consists of two students only.  Single-person “teams” are not allowed.  (Student participants must have a current or pending IEEE membership.  There is no additional competition costs beyond student conference registration and IEEE membership.  Team substitutions are at the discretion of the Contest Chair.)  Only one team is allowed from each student branch due to space limitations. The first team to register from each student branch will have priority unless otherwise designated by the branch counselor and/or competition chair.

Awards: Announced at the Saturday evening banquet.  Certificates are awarded to the winning team members. Cash prizes are $500 for the student branch of the first place team, $250 for the student branch of the second place team, and $100 for the student branch of the third place team.  The branch may distribute the money to the winning team or use the money for branch activities.
