Shuttle Leaves Hyatt Regenct DTC Hotel: 7 am


In the Student Circuit Design competition, two person student teams solve the given technical problem. The design competition will be held at the Colorado School of Mines, Golden, Colorado; a shuttle bus will leave at Hyatt DTC at 7 am and on the return journey leave Colorado School of Mines between 4:30 and 5:00 pm.

Depart Hyatt DTC: 7.00 am

Orientation:  8:00 am at Colorado School of Mines

Design Problem: Problem is provided to the teams at the orientation.

Eligibility and Cost:
IEEE student members (undergraduate only) who are registered for the R5 Conference. A team consists of two students only; single-person “teams” are not allowed.  Student participants must have a current or pending IEEE membership. There is no additional competition cost beyond student conference registration and IEEE membership. Team substitutions are at the discretion of the Contest Chair.  Space is available for at least one team from each student branch but the students must be registered for the conference by February 25, 2013.  The first team to register from each student branch will have priority unless otherwise designated by the branch counselor; other teams from that student branch may be able to participate on a space available basis.

Announced at the Saturday Conference Banquet.  First place team wins a cash prize of $ 500, second placed team $ 300, and the third placed team $ 150. Certificates are awarded to the winning team members. In addition, the winning team members (top 3 teams) receive, the National Instruments Award of a myDAQ and a Student Edition LabView CD.  The decisions of the judges are final.

Team Participation Interest:
Team Participation Interest Form must be submitted by Friday March 1, 2013. Forms will only be accepted from students registered for the R5 Conference. Participants have to separately register and pay to attend the conference so as to participate in the actual competition.  The Team Participation Interest Form is used only for planning purposes.
