Q. How do I register for the conference?

A. Please proceed to https://event-wizard.com/powerafrica2016/0/authentication to register. Registration rates are available here http://site.ieee.org/powerafrica/registration/

Q. Which hotels are available for the conference?

A. Royal Livingstone, Avani Victoria Falls, Protea and Charisma hotels are all available and in
close proximity to the conference location. Please refer to the conference website for rates here. http://site.ieee.org/powerafrica/venue/

Q. Is there any booking code available for the hotels?

A. IEEE negotiated a discount rate only for the conference hotel, the Avani Victoria Falls.  You will have to contact the other hotels and negotiate yourself. The special rate is available only after you register for the Power Africa conference. The rate is US$241 single occupancy and US$274.00 double occupancy per room per night including breakfast.

A 50% deposit is required to guarantee booking.

In addition to the hotels mentioned on the website, there are a multiplicity of other lodgings in the area. Sites like Hotels.com, Travelocity, Tripadvisor all list hotels in the Livingstone area with reviews
and prices.

Q. What is the cancellation policy for the hotels?

A. Please refer to the hotel websites for the cancellation policy. Avani cancellation policy is 7 days prior to arrival and the refund takes about 14 days.

Q. What airport is closest to the conference location?

A. Livingstone airport (LVI) is closest to the conference location. Flights into Livingstone arrive from Johannesburg & Nelspruit (South Africa), Nairobi (Kenya) and Lusaka (Zambia).

Q. Is immunization required to travel to Zambia?

A. The government of Zambia requires proof of yellow fever vaccination upon arrival if you are
traveling from a country with risk of yellow fever (this does not include the US). More information can be found here. http://wwwnc.cdc.gov/travel/destinations/traveler/none/zambia

Please be aware that there is a worldwide shortage of the yellow fever vaccine.   The World Health
Organization’s response to the outbreak of Yellow fever in Angola, with the goal of inoculating 6.5 million people in the country has put a strain on inventory.

 Q. How do I get my visa to Zambia?

A. Visit https://www.zambiaimmigration.gov.zm/index.php/menu-styles/visa-applications

You may apply for entry into Zambia using the on-line eVisa service. Be aware that to use the on-line visa process you must have in-hand the following documents.

  • Your passport (with sufficient blank pages and 6+ months remaining validity)
  • A passport photo
  • Your confirmed plane reservations
  • Your confirmed hotel reservations
  • A letter requesting issuance of the visa

With the above, you can apply for a tourist visa to Zambia.   All documents must be scanned and sent as JPEG files.  Properly completed applications with all documents properly uploaded receive a response within 24 hours. With this service, the visa fee is paid on arrival
