WiE-PT e WiE-UP no ENEEM

  Neste painel esteve em discussão a atual revolução sentida na área da engenharia, nomeadamente, na indústria 4.0. Assim, deu-se destaque à inovação associada à ciência, à tecnologia, à engenharia e à matemática (STEM – Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths). No entanto, torna-se indispensável salientar também o papel primordial que a arte e o design assumem nos dias de hoje como motor da evolução, dando lugar a um novo conceito STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Maths).   Moderadora: Carolina Centeio Jorge, IEEE WiE Portugal Section Oradoras: Prof. Teresa Duarte, FEUP Prof. Vera Miguéis, FEUP Eng. TSI2Market’18

WiE-PT participated in TSI2Market http://tsi2market.dsi.uminho.pt week, which is developed by AIS student chapter of the University of Minho. WiE intervention aimed to explain what is IEEE and WiE to IST (Information Systems and Technology) engineering students. We invited EQUAL-IST European project team and Daniela Costa, Chief Operating Officer @ Dipcode https://dipcode.com to add value to our session. Victor Barros and professor Isabel Ramos provided a status report about gender equality in the academic environment. Daniela Costa did a great presentation about leadership and skills students should start to develop in their courses. It was great, thank you to our awesome speakers and all attendees!

Women’s day “Project Management”

On women’s day, WiE-PT will gather project managers from several companies, such as VESTAS, OERN, ONS GP, GRUPO SALVADOR CAETANO, BOSCH, ESPAP, EFACEC, among others. In this event, participants will be able to know experiences project managers find every day. Join us at the University of Minho and at Critical Manufacturing to celebrate women’s day and give voice to amazing professionals! Workshops for Pre-University Students

WiE-PT was invited to do, with the Equal-IST team, workshops to promote engineer to pre-university students. It will occur on 2nd February at Engineer School of the University of Minho, Campus of Guimarães. As an engineer, what advice will you give to these younger generations? Share it with us. “I Change the World. I am an Engineer.”

23rd IEEE ICE-ITMC Conference

WiE-PT participated in the 23rd IEEE ICE-ITMC Conference with two interventions: Presentation of the paper “To be or not to be an Engineer? – Perceptions among 3rd cycle basic school students” As chairs of the workshop “Challenge Equality”. Participação no encontro internacional “Girls Tech” @Forave

No passado dia 06.Fevereiro a WiE-PT esteve na FORAVE, onde apresentou o trabalho do IEEE e da WIE. O projeto Girls Tech enquadra-se no projeto GirlsTech, financiado pelo programa Erasmus + e tem como objetivo o estudo dos motivos da baixa, ou elevada, participação do género feminino nas áreas de estudo e de trabalho das STEM dos países parceiros. Durante dois anos, escolas profissionais, universidades e associações de escolas de Portugal, Espanha, Eslovénia, Estónia, Roménia, Finlândia, Holanda e Reino Unido partilharão boas práticas e trabalharão em conjunto no sentido de desenvolverem estratégias que possam ser aplicadas na captação e manutenção de profissionais/talentos do género feminino num mundo de trabalho cada vez mais necessitado de trabalhadores qualificados. A WiE-PT esteve presente na 2ª reunião deste projeto e vai estar novamente presente na FORAVE em Maio para uma mostra aos alunos do que são as STEM.
