PES-HAC Updates: Panel on Diversifying Leadership was Held and First PES-HAC Congress is Scheduled in October
A Panel on Diversifying Leadership:
IEEE PES Humanitarian Activity Committee (PES-HAC) and IEEE PES Region 9 Women in Power (WiP) jointly organized a panel discussion on Diversifying Leadership in the 4th IEEE PES R9 WiP Day. The event was held on 4th September 2021, 2.00 PM (GMT) in an online platform with 32 participants and in Facebook Live Transmission there were 210 viewers. Focusing on the theme “Diversifying Leadership” the event was so arranged to promote the relevant women engineers. PES HAC and PES R9 WiP expressed commitments to spread the theme around the world to promote diversity and inclusion through technical activities.

Among the speakers, Dr. Celia Shahnaz and Catleen Lozano have shared their experiences and the efforts made towards upbringing the women in the mainstream volunteering. Members of different working groups of PES-HAC explained the respective activities focusing on humanitarian project design. Dr. Renu Sharma discussed the effectiveness of project design and implementation. Nurul Huda Binti Abdul Razak pointed out the training and networking opportunities available for students at PES-HAC. Guntur Renu explained the individual or group mentoring initiatives from PES-HAC to enhance the required skillset. Divya Chhabaria illustrated various aspects of project assessment that are taken care of by the PES-HAC. Chinelo Okafor explained the necessity of disseminating the information on humanitarian technology-based activities among the others through online platforms, which may inspire other members. Nour El Houda Chetoui briefly informed about the educational materials offered by the PES-HAC.
First PES-HAC Congress 2021
PES-HAC is going to organize the First PES-HAC Congress during 23-24 Oct and 30-31 Oct 2021. The theme of the PES-HAC Congress is “Sustainable Energy for a Smart Future”. This congress is designed to serve as an interactive platform for the participants to enhance their knowledge on major topics of sustainable energy focusing on humanitarian technology and UN SDGs for a smart future. The four-day congress is scheduled at two different time slots considering the time zone variations:
23rd (Sat) & 31st (Sun) Oct.: 11 AM– 2 PM (GMT)
24th (Sun) & 30th (Sat) Oct.: 3 PM– 6 PM (GMT)
Major segments in each day of the PES-HAC Congress are planned as:
- Interactive Training Sessions on Project Design
- Case Study: Participatory Analysis
- Technical Panels and Discussions
- Pitch-Session and Video Clips by the Participants
- Ask the Leaders and Networking Sessions
The congress will bring our participants out of the convention of stereotype, monotonous lectures, rather they will find all the sessions fully interactive.
