Right after the official inauguration in April 2021, the CEAL SB Chapter organized webinars on EV Technology and other events in the areas of power and energy

The official inauguration of IEEE PES SB Chapter of College of Engineering Attingal (CEAL) was conducted on 17th April 2021 at 7pm. IEEE PES Kerala Chapter Chair Er. Suhair AK inaugurated the SBC. In his inaugural address he explained the vast opportunities that IEEE PES opens up for the students and also for professionals, he also shared his experiences in IEEE including various humanitarian initiatives in which he was involved.

The IEEE PES Day celebrations started from the first day after the inauguration of the SBC. The SB chapter took initiative to organize events on EV technology. The first event after the inauguration was “EV ON”, a webinar on the topic “EVs and EV chargers”. The session was handled by Er. C M Varughese, Industry Relations Coordinator– IEEE PES Kerala Chapter. The webinar was mainly focused on the basics of EVs and the various charging technologies and relevant standards. The event was conducted on 18th April 2021 and was very well received by the participants.

The CEAL SB chapter again hosted a virtual talk on the topic “Role of Electrical Engineers in Electric Vehicle Era” on 15th August 2021. Dr. K Deepa from Amrita School of Engineering, Bengaluru was the guest speaker for the session.

Prof. Salins SS, Advisor of CEAL PES SBC provided the welcome speech and in his speech he mentioned about the rising opportunities for Electrical Engineers in the Electric Vehicle sector.

Dr K Deepa in her talk discussed almost everything from the EV design to the roles performed by EE Engineers, the skills to be developed and further to the emerging technologies and the researches being carried out in the EV sector. She explained the relevance of EVs and how it can create a change in global warming and related environmental issues. She also demonstrated the architecture of battery-powered EV, various charging systems and evolving EV technologies and research.

Lekshmi S (WiP representative) handled the Q&A session as the moderator. The Chair of IEEE PES SBC delivered the vote of thanks, the speaker was recognized by a token of appreciation by the organizing team. About 100 Engineering UG students attended the session and many others watched live through YouTube live streaming. The event received excellent feedback from attendees.

Apart from the webinars article writing competition Er. Clean- Engineering and Clean Energy, Word hunt named PURSUIT, a competition named VIRTUOSO with the theme: “Women in Power and Clean Energy” were also conducted. The PES Day celebrations at the SBC concluded with the virtual volunteer meetup Retreat: The End Means A New Beginning. The SBC also organized several other events including Quizzes, Competitions, and Online Campaigns in relation to environmental day.
