IEEE PES Kerala Chapter (PES-KC) together with the Women in Power (WiP) community successfully organized the second session of Women of Wisdom (WOW 2.0) on 16th May 2021. The Guest Speaker for the session was Ms. Latha Chembrakalam, Vice-President, Robert Bosch Engineering and Business Solutions Ltd. She shared her experiences on the ‘Women in Technology and Leadership’. She shared some important aspects of her career, such as overcoming obstacles, work-life integration, and time management. Following the session, there was an interactive Q/A session.

The session had around 66 active participants. At the beginning, a welcome speech was delivered by Prof. Nafeesa Koyisseri (WiP Coordinator, PES-KC). Chapter Chair Er. PES Kerala YP collaborated with various student branch and student branch chapters to organize multiple events. An experience sharing session on “Journey from a Student Member to YP WiP Representative” by Ms. Raneena Raoof, YP WiP Representative, PES YP Kerala was organized. Next, webinars on “Importance of Sustainable Technology” and “Augmented Reality”, which were respectively handled by Er. Albin Paul, HAC, PES Kerala Chapter (PES-KC), and Er.Shyam Pradeep Alil, Co-founder and Chief Operation Officer, Infusory Future Tech Labs Pvt. Ltd. A YP Panel Discussion on “Benefits of IEEE PES” and some brainstorming meetings were also organized where PES YP Kerala volunteers joined, such as Er. Staji Wilson, WiP Sub-Regional Representative, Er. K S Saran, SAC, PES-KC, Er.Albin Paul and Ms. Raneena Raoof.

The WiP community of PES-KC triumphantly organized a six-day virtual technical extravaganza Orion 2.0’ from 27th May 2021 -1st June 2021 to provide a platform for the students to exhibit their technical, leadership, and soft skills. The event comprised 20 competitions, divided into four main categories-Maissa, Bellatrix, Rigel, and Saiph, which showcased the diverse skill sets. The event received overwhelming registrations of over 1300. In its grand curtain-raiser Dr. Thiago Ribeiro de Alencar (Chair, PES CSAC) and Simay Akar (Chair, PES YP) and in the closing ceremony Mercy Chelangat (WiP Lead, PES R8) and Dr. Shay Bahramirad (VP of New Initiative and Outreach, PES) participated as the Chief Guests. Both the events were also honored by the presence of the Chapter Chair and other key volunteers of PES-KC. In different categories, the top three position winner SBs are:

Medium: 1. GEC Thrissur, 2. VJCET Ernakulum, 3. RIT Kottayam
Small: 1. SIMAT Palakkad, 2. CE Adoor and MESCE Kuttipuram, 3. CE Cherthala
