IEEE PES Kerala Chapter hosted various events in the month of April as an effort of helping its members to absorb the complete essence of their membership. IEEE PES YP Kerala organized a virtual industrial visit (IV) to Innoses as part of PES Day 2021 celebration on 16th April 2021. The motive of the program was to give students an industrial experience virtually and help them go beyond academics even in this pandemic condition. Ms. Simay Akar, Chief Commercial Officer and Co-founder, Innoses, jointly with Mr. Tim Lui, Chief Technical Officer, Innoses, led the IV through videos and also provided detailed explanations about both the processes as well as statistical analysis used in the manufacturing unit.

In order to bring more female volunteers into leadership roles and technology, IEEE PES Kerala Chapter launched the second edition of Women of Wisdom (WOW 2.0), a talk series on 24th April 2021 as part of PES Day 2021 activities. During the first session of the series, Ms. Chaitali Naik – Chair, IEEE PES Day 2021, shared her “Journey Towards Becoming the First Female PES Day Chair”. She gave an insight about her interests and hobbies during the event. She also shared her thoughts about teamwork and network building. Before moving on to the interactive session, she also spoke about her mentor who helped her in the complete journey. Before concluding the event, Ms. Chaitali Naik launched Orion 2.0, the virtual technical fest organized by IEEE PES Kerala Chapter. The event was also graced with the presence of various members of IEEE PES Kerala Chapter Execom members. The second talk of the series has been announced to be held on 16th May 2021 with Ms. Latha Chembrakalam – Vice-President, Robert Bosch Engineering and Business Solutions Ltd, as the speaker.

The PES YP community of the chapter was privileged to host IEEE PES HAC HTPDC 2021 R10 Local Round on 18th April 2021. Moreover, PES YP Kerala along with PES Kerala Chapter collaborated with IEEE SB GECT to organize an E-panel discussion on “Clean Energy Project Development and the Opportunities it has in IEEE” on 23rd April 2021 as a part of PES Day 2021 events (these events are separately available in PES Enews).

Multiple meetings were conducted by the PES YP Core Team and the Student Leadership Team of the chapter separately in regular intervals to ensure smooth functioning and coordination of events. This includes a Student and YP Meetup organized on 11th May 2021 in presence of Execom members of PES Kerala Chapter, such as Er. A K Suhair (Chair), Er. Ajith Gopi (Vice Chair) and Dr. Boby Philip (Secretary) and Execom members of PES YP Keralal, such as Er. Anandhu S Kumar (PES YP Activity Coordinator), Er. K S Saran (PES Student Activities Coordinator), Er. Staji Wilson (Vice Student Activities Coordinator – Kochi Hub) and Er. Anish M S (Global Relations Coordinator of PES YP Kerala) in a houseboat at Ashtamudi Lake, Kollam, to thank the Student Leadership Team and YP Core Team 2020 for their selfless service and exemplary contributions towards the Chapter in the year 2020 even during the adverse situations of the pandemic. Both teams discussed their activity plan for the year 2021, took suggestions from the senior members, and pledged to continue with more power to the future.
