PES SB Chapter of Rajagiri School of Engineering and Technology (RSET) organized a webinar titled “Renewables: The Future of Power” on February 19, 2021. The resource person for the event was Ajith Gopi, Vice-Chair of PES Kerala Chapter and the Programme Officer at ANERT, the State Nodal Agency for Renewable Energy under the Power Department of Government of Kerala. He had conceptualized and implemented ANERT’s first Remote Solar Village Electrification Project and a 2MW Solar Photovoltaic Power Plant Project in Palakkad. He discussed with the young members on several interesting topics like floating solar panels, wind farms, solar panels, solar farms, hybrid inverters, and blockchain mechanisms. The webinar was hosted on Google Meet. There were 120 registrants and 73 active participants. The Q&A session allowed participants to interact with the resource person. All in all, the event was effective in making everyone understand the importance of sustainable development. Before this event on 13th February RSET SB Chapter conducted their first general meeting with all their new members.
