Yousu Chen delivered an IEEE PES Distinguished Lecture on ‘Computational Challenges for Power Systems Operation’ hosted by IEEE PES Student Branch Chapter Vimal Jyothi Engineering College (VJEC) in collaboration with IEEE PES Kerala Chapter. The session was virtually conducted through WebEx on 26th February 2021. Yousu Chen, IEEE PES Distinguished Lecturer, is currently working as the Chief Engineer of Electrical Security Group, Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, Richland, USA.

Laly James, Past Counsellor, IEEE SB VJEC, and the Head of the Department EEE at Vimal Jyothi Engineering College, inaugurated the session with a welcome speech. The session started with an introduction to Chen’s laboratory and the research works done by them on this topic. Chen briefed all the sections on the topic and discussed the future possibilities and challenges.

There were about 54 participants in the session. The program ended with a 10 minutes question and answer session and a formal vote of thanks from Indhulekha KM, Staff Advisor, PES SBC VJEC, and Assistant Professor of the EEE Department at VJEC. The program got excellent feedback from the audience appreciating the efforts of the coordinators responsible for organizing the wonderful event.
