Electrical Power System Simulation Competition 2020 (EPSSCom) was held between 4th August 2020 and 17th November 2020 for undergraduate students who majored in electrical power engineering. This competition is created to encourage these students to enhance their logical and innovative thinking in solving a real practical power system problem. Students in groups of 4-5 students, work on solving the power system problems given via a professional software simulation package and deliver a technical report, a video presentation, and a live question and answer session with a panel of judges. This event is a collaboration between IEEE PES Malaysia Chapter, CIRED Malaysia and is the project for the R10 Educational Activities Challenge 2020 award.

10 groups consisting of 8 groups from Malaysian universities and 2 groups from Indonesian universities took part in this competition. 9 judges consisting of experts in power systems from academia and industry evaluated the participating group’s technical report and video presentation. A live question and answer session was held on the final judging day where the students were asked to defend their solutions given in their report. Due to the COVID-19 issue, all the events were held via an online platform from the briefing sessions up to the final judging day.
