On 21 May 2020, IEEE NSU Student Branch and IEEE NSU PES SB Chapter hosted a webinar in collaboration with IEEE Bangladesh Section, as a part of IEEE PES Day 2020. The theme of the Webinar was, “Managing the Changes in Power Systems” and was supported by IEEE SIGHT FLASH of IEEE Bangladesh Section, WEPower, and IEEE BDS HAC. The main speaker of the Webinar was Dr. Dean Sharafi, Head of System Management, Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO). Mr. Dean is also a senior member of IEEE and a member of the Governing Board of the IEEE PES representing Region 10.

This intuitive event was moderated by Dr. Shaikh Anowarul Fattah, Member, PES Long Range Committee, Chair, PES-HAC & Editor, IEEE PES eNews as well as Professor Dr. Celia Shahnaz, IEEE PES Women in Power R10 Representative & IEEE Bangladesh Section Chair. The event was successfully conducted by Humanitarian Activity Coordinator of IEEE Bangladesh Section A N M Nasimunnabi.

The successful implementation of the Webinar was led by the tremendous efforts that were shown by the PES Day Ambassadors from North South University, Syed Redwan MD Hassan and Nazmul Hasan, along with the support from the PES Day 2020 Communications Lead, Mayesha Tafannum. The webinar had more than 80 national and international participants from Bangladesh, India, China, Belgium, Iran Venezuela and Canada. Notable guests, including the 2020 IEEE PES Day Chair, Mr. Ajay Kumar, Chair, IEEE PES Bangladesh Chapter, Dr. Shahidul Islam Khan, and other Executive members from Bangladesh Section, marked their special presence during the session. In between the talk session, Pop quiz was conducted by Dr. Shaikh Anowarul Fattah to make the webinar more engaging.
