An online seminar was held on the 22nd April 2020. The respected speakers of the seminar were members of the Russian (Siberian) Chapter of IEEE PES: Head of the Department of Power Supply and Electrical Engineering at IRNITU, Professor Konstantin Suslov, Associate Professor Dr Ilya Shushpanov and Elected Professor of Russian Academy of Sciences, PI of Energy Systems Institute of Siberian Branch of Russian Academy of Sciences, DSc Denis Sidorov. The speakers shared their experiences, discussed the changes have occurred in their professional activities after joining the IEEE PES. Future engineers, economists and environmentalists learned about the impact of the International Professional Community through the work of industrial partners.

According to Professor Konstantin Suslov, the organizers of the seminar set themselves the goal of introducing promising students to the trends in energy development, and telling about the advantages that the IEEE PES provides: “We invite talented young people to the professional community of power engineers. This is a real chance to earn international recognition. IEEE PES provides many educational programs and helps to develop the professional connections. Membership in IEEE PES provides students with information support (scientific journals and publications), allows you to receive discounts on organization fees and participation in international conferences that take place in different countries of the world. They also have privileges for the acquisition of modern professional literature.” For young engineers who want to actively participate in IEEE, a special program is provided – Young Professionals. It has more than a thousand student branches. More than 30 international students of Irkutsk National Research Technical University joined the seminar. Thanks to IEEE PES Russia (Siberia) Chapter. The event was attended by students of the Baikal Institute of BRICS from Russia, China and the Congo.
