IIT Mandi IEEE PES Student Branch Chapter organized two energy workshops on 9th October and 31st of October, 2019. Two schools of remote Himalayan villages were chosen. The name of the schools are Government School, NALAN and Government School, Nishu (Himahal Pradesh, India) respectively.

In the first workshop, two presentations about “Fundamental Physics of Solar Power Plant” and “The Importance of Renewable Energy Sources” was given. At the second workshop there was a technical talk about “How to Harvest Sustainable Energy from Nature”. In both the workshops the technical talks were followed by hands-on session named “Make a Solar Powered Lantern”. The school students soldered the different components of solar lamp and assembled them at the session.

IIT Mandi PES Students Chapter and the school students both were very much fortunate to have Professor RAVINDRA ARORA (Senior Member, IEEE & Former Professor, IIT Kanpur) among them on the second workshop. Prof. Arora explained how the innovations in the field of renewable energy are shaping the future of the world. The students were very much inspired and motivated by his talk.
