The 2nd IEEE PES Day was celebrated on 22nd April in COMSATS University Islamabad by IEEE PES COMSATS Islamabad Student Chapter. We wanted this PES Day to be unique, we wanted to make it special and different from our last year’s PES Day celebrations. This year, the list of modules contained different motivational speakers and a few competitions as well.

IEEE PES CUI Chairperson Marriam Siddiqui gave an introductory presentation regarding the PES activities and its benefit. Next Syed Fahad Hassan briefed about the history and purpose of celebrating IEEE PES Day.

A poster designing competition was organized where the competitors were given two hours to complete their posters. Mr. Kamran Hafeez, Assistant Professor, Electrical Engineering Department delivered a lecture on ‘Wind, Energy, Power: Sources of Future Expectations of Pakistan.’ His presentation revolved around the topic of renewable energy sources and how we can do our part in saving the environment.

An info session on “Strength based Career Building” was run by Director Internal Audit, Fraud Management and Revenue Assurance at ZONG CMPak Ltd. This session was very helpful for the students that are very near their graduation as it acts as a guide for what they need to do right after they graduate.

At the end there was cake cutting ceremony followed by prize giving ceremony where IEEE Vice Chair Student Branch Hasham Hafeez and PES Chairperson Marriam Siddiqui cut the cake and Mr. Ali Tawab, the Head of the International Office CUI, presented the shields.
