With the theme ‘More Power to the Future’ IEEE University of Asia Pacific student branch in association with IEEE UAP student branch Women In Engineering (WIE) affinity group has celebrated IEEE PESDay 2019. The celebration was segmented into two phases. First phase was accomplished with a “Line Follower Robot Competition” event on May 12, 2019. Prof. Dr. M. R. Kabir, Pro Vice Chancellor, UAP glorified the event with his august presence as the chief guest. Honorable departmental head of EEE, Dr. Tapan Kumar Chakraborty presided over the event. The competition event was followed by a prize giving ceremony at 3 pm. By minute scrutiny by honorable judges among 11 teams ‘UAP_WALL-E_BOT’ and ‘UAP_ALIEN_BOT’ were declared as champion and runner-up, respectively. At that event, reverend speakers expressed their optimism to take such events to national level to evolve a team that pursues interests in robotics and mechatronics.

The second phase and the closing ceremony of IEEE PES day celebration was held on June 19, 2019. It was comprised of quiz competition and idea generation sessions; focusing on power generation and renewable energy. The program was chaired by the departmental head of EEE, UAP and the faculties attended as well.

After the competition segments, respectable speakers kept their remarks on IEEE PES day and urged the students to be thoughtful about sustainable development of the power and energy sector. Afterward, the winners of the competitions were awarded. The program concluded with cutting celebration cake.
