On 20th of April, IEEE North South University PES Student Branch Chapter implemented the first PES RES for Kids Project in Bangladesh by organising a colouring competition named “Colouring a Renewable Tomorrow” at a Kindergarten school. This project was a part of the Global PES Day Celebration by IEEE NSU PES SBC. The project focused on creating awareness among the kids about renewable energy and its different sources.

Altogether, 64 kids took part in this competition with unparalleled excitement and enthusiasm. The team provided the colouring pages and the participants were judged based on their colouring skills, vision and creativity. After the competition, there was a brief workshop where the kids enjoyed animated videos on renewable energy and its sources. In the end, the best nine were given prizes and all the participants were given certificates.

Another part of the PES Day celebration took place on 25th of April at North South University which was organised by IEEE NSU PES SBC along with IEEE NSU Student Branch and IEEE NSU SB WIE AG in collaboration with IEEE Bangladesh Section.

The event started with a small introduction by the ambassadors from NSU on the history of IEEE Power and Energy Society and Global PES Day and what PES RES for Kids Project is and how IEEE NSU PES SBC implemented the first PES RES project in Bangladesh.

The next segment was Technical Talk session on “Women in Power”. For this session, the speakers were Ms Shoilie Chakma, Secretary of IEEE WIE AG, Bangladesh Section, who spoke about the shares of Women in Power industries and enlightened the audience about the scopes and sectors where Women can play a vital role in Bangladesh and Dr. Shohana Deeba, Faculty Advisor of IEEE NSU SB WIE AG who talked about the Women Power at NSU and how women are playing roles at leading positions in IEEE NSU Student Branch.

The whole session was quite interactive and inspiring and the celebration was booming with admiration and positive energy.

Finally, the faculty advisor of IEEE NSU PES SBC gave the closing speech and handed over a token of appreciation to the speakers.
