WiP Member Sharing Her Motivation for PES and WiP

“My name is Mercy Chelangat Koech, from Kenya. Volunteering at the IEEE Power Energy Society Kenya has given me the chance to work with fellow bright minds and experts in the electric power industry. We have connected like-minded students and professionals and this is exciting because it will lead to the brainstorm of ideas and execution of innovation projects in various part of the world. We’re looking forward to more activities involving the PES Women in Power initiative this year. Women are a core part of the community and in honor of PES Day 2019 celebration, we join hands in providing More Power and Gender Equality to the Future. Access to energy has a positive impact on health and education services, women’s empowerment, climate change mitigation, reliable water and food production and energy security. I’m very passionate about Renewable Energy and together with the IEEE Smart Village, I believe we will be positively impacting numerous lives in different communities in rural Kenya.”
