A capacity building event for promoting IEEE PES HAC

On Dec 5-6th 2018, IEEE MUET Student Branch organized a Capacity building event in collaboration with IEEE PES Humanitarian Activities Committee & Shelter Participatory Organization. The event was attended by 200 participants including IEEE members.

The aim of this the event following workshop was to provide support and opportunity for young people (IEEE Members) to build their knowledge around global issues. The main objective of this two-day event was comprised of interactive workshop on sustainable development goals – impact and implication to community followed by some community actions around SDGs. This activity addressed SDGs with as action-oriented and practical approach.

The first day of the workshop comprised of three sessions. The first session titled, “SDGs: Defining the Concept- Role of individuals in SDGs and Challenges in context of engineering,” was conducted by Director (Academics & Research) Prof. Dr. Rasool Bux Mahar. The session was followed by another session tilted “SDGs as IEEE Perspective”, addressed by Professor Emeritus/Advisor MUET Prof. Dr. Bhawani Shankar Chowdhry. The third Interactive Session was conducted by Samreen Khan Ghauri, Executive Director Shelter Participatory Organization This session also included group activity in which the participants were divided in groups and asked to localize one SDG within the context of engineering highlighting its ground realities, stakeholders and way forward.

The 2nd day session was comprised of field work, 60 young and energetic people worked together and utilized their learning, efforts and hard work for execution their planning of community action initiative.
