At the direction of the IEEE Power & Energy Society Governing Board & supported by the IEEE PES member, the IEEE PES Scholarship Plus Initiative was started in 2011 in cooperation of the IEEE Foundation.

I would like to express my sincere gratitude to those involved in the IEEE Power and Energy Society Scholarship program for naming me a recipient of the scholarship this past year. This is my second time as an IEEE PES scholarship recipient and I am deeply appreciative of your support as well as your support of my peers at the University of Pittsburgh, as I know multiple other students have also received this honor at my school.

Getting involved with the IEEE PES Scholarship Plus Initiative has excited me even more about the power engineering field. It has given me access to resources like a membership in PES which opens up a great opportunity to network with other students and professionals which included having an internship at Eaton’s Power Systems Experience Center. Furthermore, it has helped me connect with professors at the University of Pittsburgh involved in our power program, which has resulted in me now planning to pursue a graduate degree in power starting spring of 2020.

Overall, the IEEE PES Scholarship Plus Initiative has motivated me to dive deeper into the power engineering field, challenging me to challenge myself to learn and gain as much experience as I can, and the recognition and award have proven to me that my efforts have paid off. Again, I want to thank you for this opportunity and award!

Thanks!
