A Three Day National-Level Workshop on Real Time Digital Simulations

The IEEE Power & Energy Society (PES) student branch chapter at Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IIT Kanpur) organized a three-day national level workshop on real time digital simulations for power engineering applications (PERA 2018). The event was organized in association with IEEE PES/IAS joint chapter, Uttar Pradesh Section at IIT Kanpur from 16th to 18th November 2018. The programme was sponsored by IEEE PES under Member Driven Initiatives (MDI) and was co-sponsored by IEEE Industry Application Society along with industrial partners – OPAL-RT, Typhoon and RTDS.

Eighty five (85) participants including academicians, researchers and industrialists who attended the workshop were provided an exposure to simulators including RTDS, OPAL-RT and TYPHOON. A poster presentation was arranged for the researchers to showcase their research related to the theme of the workshop. Dedicated sessions were also held for the participants to know the importance and activities of Power and Energy Society and Women in Power initiative. A visit to smart city laboratory installation at IIT Kanpur was also arranged for the participants to know various smart grid technologies and functionalities.
