On April 18, 2018, to celebrate the exciting PES Day, PES Young Professional Region 1 Team invited Abdullah Khaliqi, a project manager at Fitzemeyer and Tocci Associates to give a professional transition talk with the electrical engineering students at Suffolk University, Boston. After graduating from Penn State University, Abdullah has been working in both civil and electrical industries for over a decade. He has been a key contributor to numerous high-profile projects, including multiple projects at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, Yale New Haven Hospital, Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital, and Maine Medical Center.

At the beginning of the event, PESYP member Josh Zhu introduced the various PES Day celebration activities around Boston area, as well as the benefits of joining PES student membership and how to get involved. Students from Suffolk University showed great interests in becoming the next generation workforce and opportunities in power and energy industry. After the introduction, guest speaker Abdullah shared his early career path from data center to materials testing and then electrical systems commission. As a certificated power quality professional and licensed electrical engineer, he also talked about the importance of earning professional licenses.

After the talk, students actively asked questions regarding internship opportunities and career development, which Abdullah gave detailed answers based on his wide range of experience.
