Muhammad Shwehdi received the B.Sc. degree from the University of Tripoli, Tripoli, Libya, the M. Sc. degree from the University of Southern California, Los Angeles, and the Ph.D. degree from Mississippi State University, in 1972, 1975, and 1985, respectively, all in electrical engineering. At present, he is a Professor of electrical Engineering with the King Faisal University. His research interests include: High Voltage, lightning Protection, Power system analysis, Power Quality and Harmonics, and analysis of over voltages on power systems.

Dr. Shwehdi delivered two distinguished lectures on the topic of “Lightning and Transient Protection of Power Systems” and “Energy Storage Systems for Renewable Resources” to IEEE Lahore Section in Pakistan in December, 2016. His presentations and meetings played a great role in understanding the problems and finding solutions for the power grid in Pakistan.

There were more than 600 attendees, including many students who were highly impressed by the talks and the DLP. Following comments were received “It is really outstanding program, which was initiated by IEEE PES for empowerment of society globally. We are satisfied with technical content and presentation. This helped us to give technical exposure to students of Undergraduate and graduate program. We are really thankful.”
