All Pakistan Power & Energy Symposium 2016 (APPES’16) was conducted by “IEEE Power & Energy Society” in collaboration with “IEEE Lahore Section” and “IEEE UET Student Branch Chapter” from 14th to 16th October, 2016 at University of Engineering & Technology Lahore, Pakistan.

Organizing team of APPES’16

As a national platform for tackling Energy Crisis in Pakistan, this state of the art event brought together government corporates, industrialists and academic institutions to discuss environment friendly solutions. It included workshops by Power Industry representatives on Smart Village, technical talks on Smart Grids, and Smart Cities, panel discussion for developing Industry-Academia Linkage, talks on Women Empowerment, Humanitarian Activities and a technical visit to Research Centre working on exploration of Renewable Energy Resources. The event focused on paving the pathways for a better and smart future.

The participants of this event included 57 national speakers and industrial representatives, one speaker from Malaysia, five international speakers via video link, 9 accredited media groups and more than 450 students from all major universities of Pakistan and Neighbor Counties.

Participants of Young Professionals’ track

Opening ceremony was held on October 14, 2016 in which Vice Chancellor Dr. Fazal Ahmad Khalid, being convener of IEEE APPES’16, welcomed all the guest speakers and participant students. Afterwards, Chairperson IEEE PES Lahore Section, Professor Dr. Suhail Aftab Qureshi briefed the audience about the event. Afterward, Dr. Massoud Amin introduced Smart grid Initiative of IEEE PES. Later, the chief guest of the evening, Dr. Fiaz Ahmad Ch. (Managing Director NTDC) held the podium and said that energy crisis in Pakistan brings a positive venture for youth. It allows them to channel their abilities in best of state’s interest. He expressed his well wishes for the event and its participants.

With this, the three day event took off, and got concluded on the evening of October 16, 2016.
