PES-Electrification-Mag-Cover-WebThe IEEE Power & Energy Society has unveiled the IEEE Electrification Magazine, a new quarterly print and digital publication dedicated to disseminating information on all matters related to microgrids onboard electric vehicles, ships, trains, planes and off-grid applications. The magazine is co-sponsored by the IEEE Industry Applications Society (IEEE IAS) and the IEEE Power Electronics Society (IEEE PELS).

“This publication is designed, written and edited by subject matter experts in the energy and related industries, with an intense focus on how vehicles, trains, ships and planes will run on electric power,” said Saifur Rahman, editor-in-chief for IEEE Electrification Magazine. “Our readership will enjoy content related to a variety of topics, including software, renewable energy, energy storage, power electronics, communication networks and more. While the power industry has grown exponentially, microgrids and off-grid applications are steadily expanding and achieving the same success. IEEE Electrification Magazine strives to support this bourgeoning market.”

Published quarterly, each edition of the magazine will provide news, analysis and insights on electric vehicles and other forms of transportation. Readers will have access to comprehensive and in-depth technical analysis from engineers in the field of advanced electrification. While the publication covers the technical aspects of the market, it will also provide perspectives on non-technical areas such as business, environmental and social concerns.

Added Rahman: “There’s an urgency to move land, sea and air transportation fleets from fossil fuels to a more clean, sustainable source of energy. Climate change and pollutants that are harmful to human health have changed our world. The launch of IEEE Electrification Magazine is timely and aims to support this topic of critical importance.”

All members of PES, IAS and PELS will receive the digital edition of the magazine as a benefit of membership for one year. Print subscriptions are available at a discounted rate for IEEE and society members.
