IEEE is dedicated to keeping its members and authors safe from the effects of piracy. Piracy of IEEE Intellectual Property (IP) not only hurts IEEE as an organization, but it can also hurt the IEEE member, subscriber, and author.

In an ongoing effort to eliminate infringement on the Internet, a new Web form is now available via IEEE Xplore for all IEEE staff, members, and volunteers to report misuse of IEEE intellectual property. This would include unauthorized posting of conference or journal papers, reselling of standards, or unauthorized use of the IEEE name or logo. All reports of IP misuse will be reviewed by members of the IP Misuse Strategy Team.

So far in 2012, content has been removed from over 40 Web sites and 20 blogs. There have also been nearly 8,000 takedown notices distributed.
