The IEEE Ozark Section and Region 5 lost a great supporter and mentor this month in John Meredith.  John passed away on Wednesday, September 26, 2018 in Colorado Springs. He was a proud native of Fayetteville, Arkansas and graduated from Fayetteville High School with the Class of 1959 and earned his BSEE at the University of Arkansas, at the time of the founding of the Ozark Section.  Some of John’s fond memories of his days at the University of Arkansas can be found on the Ozark Section history page.

He was a Director Emeritus of the IEEE Foundation Board of Directors and a member of the IEEE Foundation Grants Committee. He served as a Director of the IEEE Board of Directors and Region 5 Director during 2004-2005.  He was President of IEEE-USA in 2007. John was inducted this spring into the Arkansas Academy of Electrical Engineers.

A memorial service will be held locally at the Genesis Church (formerly Wiggins Methodist Church), 205 MLK Jr. Blvd., Fayetteville, AR 72701 on Friday, October 12 at 2:00 PM., with Randall Caselman and Tony Holifield officiating.
