February Section Meeting – Turbine Generator Tour – Thursday, Feb 23 (details)

For our first section meeting of 2017 we’re repeating an often-requested tour of the Physical Plant at the UA-Fayetteville.  All members and students are invited.  We’ll start the tour behind the physical plant building adjacent to the UA Harmon parking deck on Thursday, Feb. 23rd at 5:30p.  We do ask that you reserve a spot either via the reservation page or by sending an email to mattfrancis@ieee.org so we can get a head count beforehand.  Thanks – and see you there!

UA Power Electronics Society Invited Talk – Dr. Alan Mantooth – Wednesday Feb 22 (details)

The UA-Fayetteville PELS students are hosting Dr. Alan Mantooth, UA Distinguished Professor and the current President of IEEE PELS, who will be talking about the future of the power electronics society.  The talk will be in the ELEG lounge of Bell Engineering on the UA-Fayetteville campus.  The talk is also available via webex – please email mattfrancis@ieee.org for login details.

March Section Meeting – Professional Licensing in Arkansas – Mar 16 – (details)

For our March section meeting, we will be hosting Grant Grigg, Chief Inspector for the Arkansas State Board of Licensure for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors.  If you’ve ever had questions about the licensing process in Arkansas -here’s your chance to ask them!  We’re very happy that Garver in Fayetteville has volunteered to host the meeting at their location on Joyce Blvd.  See you there!

Region 5 Conference – April 1-2, Denver CO

We are looking forward to attending the Region 5 conference this spring and making a great showing from our student branches.  Teams are forming now including Robotics, Design, Ethics and the Paper Competition.  http://r5conferences.org/ for more details
