OKC SECTION UNDERGRADUATE STUDENT PAPER CONTEST
The OKC Section Student Paper Contest is on schedule. This is the first step for IEEE Student Members in the OKC area is to compete in the R5 Student Paper Contest, culminating in the R5 competition in April 4, 2020.
The deadline requires that all papers are to be submitted to Dan Morehead (email@example.com) no later than 5 pm, Friday, November 2. Papers should conform to the rules given at http://r5conferences.org/competitions/student-paper-competition/ This will allow winning papers from the OKC Section some time for revision prior to submission to the Area Competition, which is the next level.
All student papers that conform to the rules, received by the deadline, will be judged by a panel of written paper judges. Then, on the following Tuesday, November 6, each paper will be presented orally. The oral presentation meeting will be held at To Be Announced Later and the meeting begins at 6 pm. This is the same venue that has been used in the recent past for this contest.
All of the oral presentation meeting participants should be present by 6 pm. First, a light meal will be served to be immediately followed by the presentations. A panel of oral presentation judges will complete their scoring following these presentations. Results of the earlier written paper judging and the oral presentation judging will then be combined and winners will be announced at the meeting. The local OKC Section awards up to three prizes: First, Second, and Third Place prizes are $300, $200, and $100, respectively. The top local papers will be submitted to the Area Competition, which is the next level of the R5 Student Paper Contest. Area winners will compete in the 2019 IEEE Region 5 Annual Business Meeting and Student Activities Conference that will take place April 4th, 2020 at the Shearton Hotel downtown. Area and Regional winners receive additional prizes.
This is a great opportunity for IEEE Student Members to hone their writing and presentation skills and to compete for some significant prizes. This competition is conducted by the IEEE OKC Section Life Members, currently chaired by Dan Morehead . Any questions should be addressed to him:
