Working Group 2.15 – Fiber Optic Cable
Scope
WG 2.15 is responsible for maintenance of IEEE Std 1682 “Standard for Qualifying Fiber Optic Cables, Connections, and Optical Fiber Splices for Use in Safety Systems in Nuclear Power Generating Stations.” The purpose of the standard is to provide specific directions for the implementation of IEEE Std 323-2003 for qualification of fiber optic cables, including hybrid cables, connections, and optical fiber splices. There is a white_paper available to describe the major changes associated with the latest (2011) version of the standard. The WG is currently inactive, but preparing a PAR to begin work on the next version of the standard later in 2019.
