Section Chair Message

Dear IEEE NoVA Members,

I hope you are all enjoying the spring and all the IEEE activities around Northern Virginia. In addition to the very informative technical meeting our section society chapters offer, this month we have some unique events.

The Integrated Communications Navigation and Surveillance (ICNS) Conference is taking place from April 18 to 20 at the Westin Hotel at Dulles Airport. The conference includes diverse plenary events with distinguished speakers from all over the world and an exhibit hall. For more information please check http://i-cns.org/

On Saturday April 29th, the 2017 National Capital Area Awards Banquet will be held at the Washington City Club. The City Club is located near Metro Center, in the heart of the theater district and near Smithsonian Museums. Come meet our student science fair winners, the new IEEE fellows, and have a relaxing evening with gourmet dinner and music. Please register as the cut off day is April 21, 2017. https://events.vtools.ieee.org/m/44327

On Saturday April 22nd please join the IEEE National Capital area members at the March for Science!  We will be spreading the word about the IEEE’s mission to foster technological innovation and excellence for the benefit of humanity and encouraging other March supporters to join IEEE. The teach-in and rally will take place north of the Washington monument, along Constitution Ave NW between 15th and 17th Sets NW, starting at 10am. IEEE members plan to meet at 9 am the Museum of American History and move to the rally starting at 9:30am. Look for a blue IEEE banner. For more information please check https://events.vtools.ieee.org/m/44343 and register.

Through millennia of human civilization science survived many political systems and many religions and arrived at our time in history with respect and integrity. IEEE Scientists and Engineers take this responsibility seriously. I am positive that in the future we will all be grateful for the National area volunteers who marched as free thinking IEEE members and made history next to the scientist of the world.

Sincerely,

Kiki Ikossi, Ph.D.

Chair IEEE NoVA Section
