Section Chair Message

Dear IEEE NoVA Members,

I would like to welcome our new IEEE members to the Northern Virginia Area and invite you to attend one of the free IEEE local meetings, learn something new, and meet your fellow Engineers. Our IEEE Society Chapters scheduled exciting meetings through our area with free technical exchange. Our web has a calendar that promises that no single day is left without an opportunity to learn more on the latest advancements in Science and Technology.

Please remember to join us at the March for Science on April 22 in Downtown DC. Our local IEEE members from NoVA, Washington DC and Baltimore Sections and our University IEEE Student members will be participating.  https://events.vtools.ieee.org/m/44343

Do not forget to get your tickets for the IEEE National Capital Area Awards banquet for April 29th 2017. Please note that the deadline for tickets is 12 am on April 22nd. This year we are going to the Washington Club and promise we have an amazing program with an elegant gourmet dinner and live music. Dr. John Vig, past IEEE president will be our guest speaker. Come join us and meet the new IEEE Fellows, the emerging engineer’s science fair competition winners and the local IEEE volunteers.  https://events.vtools.ieee.org/m/44327

Acknowledgements

I would like to thank Doug Holly who organized and led the IEEE Region 2 South 2017 Officers Training Day on February 25th at the Aviation Museum in College Park, Maryland. The meeting was a great success with over 40 IEEE officers from Washington DC, Northern Virginia, and Baltimore attending, in a day of training and information exchange. A special thanks to our presenters Doug Holly, Murty Polavarapu, Mike Cardinale, Tony Ivanov, Ben Menachery, Tom Starai and, especially the inimitable Harvey Newman for his both informative and entertaining presentation. A special thank you to Roger Kaul for organizing and handling the food arrangement, and the Region 2 Director Kate Duncan who honored us with her attendance. For the ones who could not attend please find the information on the Google drive.
