Biography: F. Satari was born in Quchan, a small town with minimal educational infrastructure and facilities. When she finished her primary school, she was accepted in the provincial entrance exam of the Exceptional Talents High School. After excelling in high school and hard working around the clock, she participated in a very competitive tuition-free nationwide university entrance exam (i.e. Konkour) among about one and half million participants; She was accepted in Computer Software Engineering of Urmia University. During her undergraduate education, she actively participated in many teamwork projects and attended some technical seminars as well as joining associations at her university. Furthermore, she got the title of top student in technical faculty of the university in one semester and received her B. Sc. degree in Computer Software Engineering from Urmia University of Technology, Urmia, Iran, in 2008. She is currently pursuing an M.Sc.A. Computer Engineering in the Department of Computer and Software Engineering, Polytechnique Montréal, University of Montreal, Montreal, Canada and she is a member of IEEE Young Professionals. Biography: S. Khaf received the B.E. degree in electrical engineering from the National University of Sciences and Technology, School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (NUST-SEECS), Islamabad, Pakistan, in 2015. She received the M.Sc. degree in electrical and electronics engineering from Bilkent University, Ankara, Turkey, in 2018. From 2015 to 2018, she was a Research Assistant with IONOLAB, Turkey. From 2018 to 2020, she worked with the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology (GIKI), Pakistan, as a Lecturer. She conducted her research there on Mobile Edge Computing and Deep Learning with the TeleCoN research group. Currently, she is with École de Technologie supérieure, Montreal, Canada, as a Ph.D. student. Her research interests include machine learning, radio resource management, cognitive radio networks, and industrial internet-of-things (IIoT). Website and Social Media Officer: Nihed Ghedira
Affiliation: Université INRS
Degree: M.Sc. student in Telecommunications.

Biography: N. Ghedira is a 25-year-old from Tunisia. She is a passionate of new technologies and the importance of their dissemination to a wide range of users, especially to youth. She is a strong believer in the importance of new and innovative technologies in sustaining the transition of our countries to knowledge-based societies. It was this belief that underpinned her determination since her early age to pursue an education in science and advanced technology. In summer 2017, Nihed completed her undergraduate studies with honor in information and communication science and technology from the National Institute of Applied Science and Technology in Tunisia. Thanks to her outstanding scholarly performance, Nihed received a scholarship of excellence from the National Institute of Scientific Research in Montreal (Canada) to pursue her graduate studies in the field of communications, and more specifically in voice recognition. As a young Arab scientist, her research objective is to contribute to the integration of the Arabic language in the growing field of voice recognition platforms and solve the complexity of Arabic dialect identification. Her research will be funded by Google. In addition to her academic achievements, Nihed was an active member and action leader in many civil associations in Tunisia, including Junior Chamber International, Ambassadors of the Environment, and Notre Grand Bleu Association. More recently, she was admitted as junior member in Tunisian Talents United where she was selected in the first coaching batch for leadership skills development.

Biography: Elnasser graduated top of his class in 2008 from the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport, Egypt. As a result, he was offered to join the faculty as a full-time teaching and research assistant. He has been an IEEE student member since 2007, started volunteering with IEEE YP Montreal in 2016 and joined the executive committee in 2017. His research focuses on digital signal processing and artificial intelligence applications. Whenever he is not glued to his desk in the lab, you will probably find him at the gym or at his Montreal apartment trying very hard not to be the worst “oud” player in the northern hemisphere.

Biography: K. Kaur received the B.Tech degree in computer science and engineering from Punjab Technical University, Jalandhar, India, in 2011 and the M.E. (Information Security) and Ph.D. (Computer Science and Engineering) degrees from Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology (Deemed to be University), Patiala, India, in 2015 and 2018, respectively. She is currently working as a NSERC Postdoctoral Research Fellow with the Department of Electrical Engineering, École de technologie supérieure, Université du Québec, Montréal, Canada and a Visiting Researcher in the School of Computer Science and Engineering (SCSE) at the Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore. Her main research interests include Cloud Computing, Energy Efficiency, Smart Grid, Frequency Support, and Vehicle-to-Grid. Industrial Workshop Coordinator | Marketing Manager: Claudio Alkazzi

Biography: C. Alkazzi’s research focuses on increasing the spectral efficiency of 5G wireless communication by integrating deep learning in hybrid beamforming. He completed his bachelor’s degree at the Lebanese University, Faculty of Engineering, Section II, Roumieh in electrical engineering (specialized in electrical, electronics, and communications), where he received a scholarship to pursue his master’s degree at Polytechnique Montréal. Biography: M. Mazaheri received her bachelor's degree in computer science from the The University of Isfahan in 2014. She was a member of a robotic team during high school, participated in robotic competitions in Iran. Their team attended the international Robocup competitions in Austria in 2009 and won First Place in the Junior Soccer League. She has experience in teaching robotics, organizing robotics workshops, and joining technical committees in Robocup competition. She also has worked as a software and hardware developer from 2016 to 2018. She is currently a master's student in Computer Science at Concordia University, Montreal, Canada. Digital Media Manager: Aida Vahdani

Biography: A. Vahdani received her bachelor's degree in Information Technology Engineering from the Islamic Azad University. During her undergraduate education, she was an active member of the IT scientific association and received the first rank with the highest GPA among more than 100 undergraduate students for the whole 4-year program (2009-13). She was the manager at the Information Technology booth in Mashhad International Exhibition (Representing the College of Engineering, Islamic Azad University of Mashhad), and was also the coordinator of a scientific event for student conferences at her University. Moreover, she experienced volunteering at a charity festival to help children with cancer which was held in the Ferdowsi University of Mashhad in 2014. She has worked as a computer engineer from 2016 to 2018 at Pars Orthopedic Industries Co. Aida has been a master's student in Applied Computer Science since January 2019 at Concordia University, Montreal, Canada. Research Officer: Guilherme Martignago Zilli
Affiliation: Concordia University, Montreal

Biography: G.Martignago Zilli received the B.S. and the M.Sc. degrees in electrical engineering, respectively, from Santa Catarina State University, Joinville, Brazil, in 2014, and from the Federal University of Santa Catarina, Florianopolis, Brazil, in 2016. He is currently a Ph.D. candidate in electrical and computer engineering at Concordia University, Montreal, QC, Canada. His research interests include adaptive and statistical signal processing and signal processing for wireless communication with a particular focus on MIMO systems. Mr. Zilli is a recipient of the Doctoral Research Scholarship Program for Foreign Students, from the Fonds de Recherche du Québec – Nature et Technologies (FRQNT), the Concordia International Tuition Award of Excellence, and the Concordia Accelerator Award.

His research focuses on digital signal processing and artificial intelligence applications. He is currently with the Poly-Grames Research Center, Electrical Engineering Department, Polytechnique Montreal, Montreal, QC, Canada. Biography: K. Kaur received the B.Tech degree in computer science and engineering from Punjab Technical University, Jalandhar, India, in 2011 and the M.E. (Information Security) and Ph.D. (Computer Science and Engineering) degrees from Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology (Deemed to be University), Patiala, India, in 2015 and 2018, respectively. She is currently working as a NSERC Postdoctoral Research Fellow with the Department of Electrical Engineering, École de technologie supérieure, Université du Québec, Montréal, Canada and a Visiting Researcher in the School of Computer Science and Engineering (SCSE) at the Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore. Her main research interests include Cloud Computing, Energy Efficiency, Smart Grid, Frequency Support, and Vehicle-to-Grid. Dr. Kaur has secured a number of research articles in top-tier journals such as IEEE Wireless Communications, IEEE TII, IEEE TCC, IEEE TVT, IEEE TMM, IEEE TSG, IEEE Systems Journal, IEEE IoT Journal, IEEE Communications Magazine, IEEE Wireless Communications, IEEE Network, IEEE PS, FGCS, JPDC, Springer PPNA, etc., and various International conferences including IEEE Globecom, IEEE ICC, IEEE PES GM, IEEE WCNC, IEEE Infocom Workshops, ACM MobiCom Workshops, ACM MobiHoc workshops, etc. During her PhD, she received two prestigious fellowships, i.e., INSPIRE fellowship from Department of Science & Technology, India (in 2015) and research scholarship from Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) (from 2016–2018). Dr. Kaur also received the IEEE ICC best paper award in 2018 at Kansas City, USA and 2019 Best Research Paper Award from Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology, India. She serves as an Associate Editor of Wiley’s Security and Privacy (SPY) and Journal of Information Processing Systems (JIPS), Springer’s Human-centric Computing and Information Sciences (HCIS), and guest editor for a special issue in IEEE Transaction on Industrial Informatics. Biography: V. Maleki Raee received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in computer science, majoring in computer systems and networks in 2012 and 2015, respectively, from the University of Malaya (UM), Malaysia. He began his Ph.D. in information system engineering as part of the IoT team in May 2016 at Concordia University, Montreal, Canada. Biography: I. Hussain received the B.Sc. degree in Information and Communication System Engineering (with distinction) from the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (SEECS), National University of Science and Technology (NUST), Islamabad, Pakistan, and the M.Sc. degree from the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits), Johannesburg, South Africa. Biography: F. Satari was born in Quchan, a small town with minimal educational infrastructure and facilities. When she finished her primary school, she was accepted in the provincial entrance exam of the Exceptional Talents High School. After excelling in high school and hard working around the clock, she participated in a very competitive tuition-free nationwide university entrance exam (i.e. Konkour) among about one and half million participants; She was accepted in Computer Software Engineering of Urmia University. During her undergraduate education, she actively participated in many teamwork projects and attended some technical seminars as well as joining associations at her university. Furthermore, she got the title of top student in technical faculty of the university in one semester and received her B. Sc. degree in Computer Software Engineering from Urmia University of Technology, Urmia, Iran, in 2008. She is currently pursuing an M.Sc.A. Computer Engineering in the Department of Computer and Software Engineering, Polytechnique Montréal, University of Montreal, Montreal, Canada and she is a member of IEEE Young Professionals. Industrial Relations Manager: Sadia Khaf

Biography: S. Khaf received the B.E. degree in electrical engineering from the National University of Sciences and Technology, School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (NUST-SEECS), Islamabad, Pakistan, in 2015. She received the M.S. degree in electrical and electronics engineering from Bilkent University, Ankara, Turkey, in 2018. From 2015 to 2018, she was a Research Assistant with IONOLAB, Turkey. In 2018, she joined the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, GIK Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology, Pakistan, as a Lecturer. She conducted her research there on Mobile Edge Computing and Deep Learning with the TeleCoN research group. Currently, she is with École de Technologie supérieure, Montreal, QC, Canada, as a Ph.D. student. Her research interests include Machine Learning, radio resource management, Cognitive Radio Networks, and IIoT. Social Media Officer: Mandana Mazaheri

Biography: M. Mazaheri received her bachelor's degree in computer science from the University of Isfahan in 2014. She was a member of a robotic team during her high school, participated in robotic competitions in Iran. Their team attended the international Robocup competitions in Austria in 2009 and won the First Place in the Junior Soccer League. She has experience in teaching robotics, organizing robotics workshops, and joining technical committees in Robocup competition. Website and Social Media Officer: Nihed Ghedira

Biography: N. Ghedira is a 25-year-old from Tunisia. She is a passionate of new technologies and the importance of their dissemination to a wide range of users, especially to youth. She is a strong believer in the importance of new and innovative technologies in sustaining the transition of our countries to knowledge-based societies. It was this belief that underpinned her determination since her early age to pursue an education in science and advanced technology. In summer 2017, Nihed completed her undergraduate studies with honor in information and communication science and technology from the National Institute of Applied Science and Technology in Tunisia. Thanks to her outstanding scholarly performance, Nihed received a scholarship of excellence from the National Institute of Scientific Research in Montreal (Canada) to pursue her graduate studies in the field of communications, and more specifically in voice recognition. As a young Arab scientist, her research objective is to contribute to the integration of the Arabic language in the growing field of voice recognition platforms and solve the complexity of Arabic dialect identification. Her research will be funded by Google. In addition to her academic achievements, Nihed was an active member and action leader in many civil associations in Tunisia, including Junior Chamber International, Ambassadors of the Environment, and Notre Grand Bleu Association. More recently, she was admitted as junior member in Tunisian Talents United where she was selected in the first coaching batch for leadership skills development.

Biography: A. Vahdani received her bachelor's degree in Information Technology Engineering from the Islamic Azad University. During her undergraduate education, she was an active member of the IT scientific association and received the first rank with the highest GPA among more than 100 undergraduate students for the whole 4-year program (2009-13). She was the manager at the Information Technology booth in Mashhad International Exhibition (Representing the College of Engineering, Islamic Azad University of Mashhad), and was also the coordinator of a scientific event for student conferences at her University. Biography: T. Ben Salah completed his undergraduate studies in telecommunications from "École Supérieure des Communications de Tunis (SUP'COM)" in Tunisia, ranked first engineering school in telecommunications in the country in September 2018. He also was a former Mitacs Globalink intern, a program attracting top undergraduate students from around the world to Canada for a summer research internship. His intern (summer 2018) was about developing an IoT solution for smart agriculture. After completing his undergraduate studies, he was admitted by Mitacs for the “Globalink Graduate fellowship” program, offering former top Mitacs interns the opportunity to pursue a research-based master in any of their academic partners. Taha started his Master as a Mitacs student in January 2019 at "École de Technologie Supérieure (ÉTS)", University of Quebec. He is also passionate about graphic design, he participated as a lead designer in multiple clubs at his university and he is currently the main poster designer for the IEEE Young Professional (Montreal branch). Biography: Mahmoud received his B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in electrical and communication engineering from the Faculty of Engineering, Cairo University, in 2001 and 2013, respectively. He is currently pursuing the Ph.D. degree with the Electrical and Communication Engineering Department, Concordia University. In 2005, he started working for the industry as a Mobile Technology Trainer in Telecom Egypt, SIEMENS, and Nokia Siemens Networks. He was with Academia in 2011. He was a Research Assistant with Cairo University, worked for an LTE-Advanced Research Project for two years. Bahareh Received her Master in Computer Engineering in 2009 from Sharif University of Technology and her bachelor in Computer Engineering in 2005 from Isfahan University of Technology. Teaching is her passion and she is a senior lecturer in the Concordia Continuing Education Centre.

Biography: Biography: Armin Salimi was born in Kermanshah, Iran in 1989. He received his B.Sc. and Ph.D. in electrical (power) engineering from Shahid Beheshti University, Tehran, Iran and McGill University, Montreal, Canada, in 2012 and 2017, respectively.
He is currently with CanmetENERGY, Montreal, Canada, as a postdoctoral researcher. His research interests include machine learning and data mining techniques in power engineering applications, computer-aided design of electrical machines, multi-objective optimization, robust optimization, power electronics, and drive systems.

Biography: Elnasser graduated top of his class in 2008 from the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport, Egypt. As a result, he was offered to join the faculty as a full-time teaching and research assistant. He has been an IEEE student member since 2007, started volunteering with IEEE YP Montreal in 2016 and joined the executive committee in 2017. His research focuses on digital signal processing and artificial intelligence applications. Whenever he is not glued to his desk in the lab, you will probably find him at the gym or at his Montreal apartment trying very hard not to be the worst “oud” player in the northern hemisphere.

Industrial Relations Manager: Mahmoud Kamel

Biography: Mahmoud received his B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in electrical and communication engineering from the Faculty of Engineering, Cairo University, in 2001 and 2013, respectively. He is currently pursuing the Ph.D. degree with the Electrical and Communication Engineering Department, Concordia University. In 2005, he started working for the industry as a Mobile Technology Trainer in Telecom Egypt, SIEMENS, and Nokia Siemens Networks. He was with Academia in 2011. He was a Research Assistant with Cairo University, worked for an LTE-Advanced Research Project for two years. His current research interests are in the area of ultra-dense networks, Internet of Things, and wireless network virtualization. Mahmoud has a deep conviction that Academia and Industry are tightly related where the innovations in Industry must be backed by Advancements in Academia. Facilitating the interrelations and communications between Academia and Industry is thus on the top of his volunteering TO-DO checklist.
