Honoring Excellence: Celebrating IEEE YP Montreal’s 2017 Achievements

Recognition during the 2017 IEEE Montreal Section AGM & Gala Banquet

On Friday 10th November 2016, executive committee members of the IEEE Young Professionals Affinity Group in the IEEE Montreal Section were recognized during the Annual AGM & Gala Banquet for their outstanding volunteering efforts with the IEEE Montreal Section and IEEE Young Professionals Montreal in the past year. These members include Mohammad Taufiquzzaman, Mohammad Hossain Mohammadi, Nazanin Hashemi-Attar, Avishek Paul, and El-Nasser Youssef. We are also proud that Mohammad Taufiquzzaman received the IEEE Montreal Best Volunteer Award for a sustained dedication and major contributions made to the IEEE Montreal Section and IEEE Young Professionals Montreal. Masoumeh Esfandiari, the past chair, was recognized for organizing the first Multi-Generation Collaboration event in 2016.

In addition, Mohammad Taufiquzzaman, Mohammad Hossain Mohammadi, Nazanin Hashemi-Attar, Avishek Paul, El-Nasser Youssef, Mohammad Afshari, Melissa Vosough Tehrani and Akashdeep Chauhan were presented with certificates of appreciation for their volunteering roles in the WiSEE 2017 conference.  Many congratulations to the 2017 executive committee for a successful year!

 

IEEE Canada Young Professionals Newsletter (Fall 2017)

During Fall 2017, the Montreal IEEE Young Professionals Affinity Group organized successful events which engaged students, young professionals, academics and industry professionals. These include the IEEE Day 2017 Celebration and WiSEE Welcome Reception & Young Professionals Meetup.  The IEEE Region 7 Young Professionals published their summaries in a newsletter at this link.

 

Runner Up in the 2017 IEEE YP Hall of Fame Award

This year, more than 20 Young Professionals Affinity Groups from all over the world were nominated for the IEEE Young Professionals Hall of Fame Award, the highest distinction a Young Professionals Affinity Group can receive. Among them, the Montreal’s IEEE Young Professionals Group was a 2017 runner up and the only representative from Region 7. Congratulations to all the involved officers and volunteers for this extraordinary achievement, especially to Masoumeh Esfandiari!

 

Recognition during the 2016 IEEE Montreal Section Annual Awards Banquet & AGM

On Friday 14th October 2016, Masoumeh Esfandiari was awarded by the IEEE Montreal Section during the Section’s Annual Awards Banquet & AGM for her tremendous effort in reviving and leading the IEEE Young Professionals Affinity Group.
