The scope of the IEEE Industry Applications Society, as a transnational organization, is the advancement of the theory and practice of electrical and electronic engineering in the development, design, manufacture and application of electrical systems, apparatus, devices, and controls to the processes and equipment of industry and commerce; the promotion of safe, reliable, and economic installations; industry leadership in energy conservation and environmental, health, and safety issues; the creation of voluntary engineering standards and recommended practices; and the professional development of its membership.
The IEEE Miami IAS Chapter conducted several activities over the past several months and Chapter will continue to be very active and will participate in many activities that benefit the members and enhance interaction with the community.
“Evaluation of Conducted and Radiated EMI Due to High Frequency Switching in Pulse Width Modulated Motor Drives,” given by Professor Osama Mohammed of Florida International University on May 25, 2010 and a field trip to the Florida Power & Light Smart Grid Demonstration Project in Juno Beach, Florida; which involved many Undergraduate students.
“Micro magnetic analysis of Perpendicular Recording Heads,” by Professor Yasushi Kanai of Niigata Institute of Technology on August 11, 2010.
