As authorized by the IEEE Board of Directors, the IEEE Member and Geographic Activities Board (known as IEEE Regional Activities Board prior to 1 January 2008) approved the establishment and boundaries of the IEEE Lafayette Section on 11 November 1970. The Lafayette Section conducts activities which assist the local IEEE members to enhance their professional careers and their communities.

Interested IEEE members are invited to become active in the Lafayette Section and its Society Chapters. All interested members are welcome to attend any of the Section and Chapter meetings or local seminars.
