Queen’s ECE Wins 1st place at the 2015 IEEE Eastern Ontario Student Paper Competition

Congratulations to Queen’s ECE team on winning the 2015 IEEE Eastern Ontario Student Paper Competition. The Queen’s ECE team consisting of three members – Thomas Coulter, Falgun Trivedi and Kieran Williams with their project “Wireless Follow Focus” won the 1st-place after competing with the best teams from Carleton University, RMC, and Algonquin College.

This year the competition took place at University of Ottawa and Queen’s ECE team was being supervised by Dr. Michael Greenspan, an ECE faculty at Queen’s.

Queen’s 2015 IEEE Student Project Competition

The 2015 Queen’s IEEE Student Project Competition was held on Tuesday March 24 at Walter Light Hall, Queen’s main campus. The two projects which advanced to round II  were all exciting and the judges – Prof. Ahmad Afsahi, Prof. Yan-Fei Liu and Prof. Carlos Saavedra​ did a great job.

The winners of the competition were:

1st Place – Team: Thomas Coulter, Falgun Trivedi and Kieran Williams
Supervisor: Prof. Michael Greenspan
Project: Wireless Follow Focus

2nd Place -Team: Stephaney Daley​
Supervisor: Prof. Anthony Noble
Project: Image Analysis of the PICO Dark Matter Detector

The ECE Department at Queen’s also supported by providing pizza and refreshments for the event


RMC Student branch wins student paper Competition

Tuesday, March 31st, 2015
The RMC IEEE Student paper competition was held on 26 Mar 2014 in conjunction with the RMC ECE fourth year project presentations. There were a total of 14 excellent projects presented.  Prizes of $150, $90 and $60 were awarded to the first, second and third place project groups respectively.

RMC Student Paper Competition Winners

2nd          Leverton and Mackey, Hardware based Symmetric Network Encryption
3rd          Albrecht and Machnee, DNS Covert Channel Detection Tool
Mr. Laberge-Leblanc and Mr. Lizee will represent RMC at the IEEE Regional Student Paper Competition on 1 April 2015 at the University of Ottawa.

2013 IEEE Eastern Ontario Student Competition

It is our great pleasure to announce that the students of RMC and Queen’s obtained 2nd and 3rd place respectively in the IEEE Eastern Ontario Student Competition held at Carleton university on March 27, 2013.  The details of the results are as follows:
