Nominations for 2013 IEEE Kingston Section Awards

2013 IEEE Eastern Ontario Student Competition

Dear all,

It is our great pleasure to announce that the students of RMC and Queen’s obtained 2nd and 3rd place respectively in the IEEE Eastern Ontario Student Competition held at Carleton university on March 27, 2013.  The details of the results are as follows:

 

2nd Place: RMC group:

Project title:      Silent Wireless Communicator

Students:          Rip Pennell & Flavio Stasi

Supervisor:       Alain Beaulieu &  Sidney Givigi

 

3rd Place: Queen’s Group:

Project title:      Microwave Imaging System

Students:          Mark Mitchell, Peter Davidge, Luke Durst

Supervisor:       Prof. Carlos Saavedra

2012 IEEE Kingston Section Awards

IEEE Kingston Section congratulates the following individuals who received the 2012 section awards. The awards were handed out during the 2012 Annual Summer Banquet at the Donald Gordon Conference Center in Kingston on the eve of June 08, 2012.

The section would like to thank Dr. A. Osman, the Awards Chair of the section and the reviewers Prof. S. Yuksel, Prof. J.Morelli and Prof. A. Afsahi for their time and commitment to these prestigious awards.

I. 2012 IEEE Kingston Section Graduate Research Awards:

1) 2012 PhD Research Excellence Award

Recipient: Umar Iqbal
Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Queen’s University and Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the Royal Military College of Canada.
Supervisors: Dr. Aboelmagd Noureldin and Dr. Michael J. Korenberg

For his outstanding Doctoral research in the field of Hybrid Multi-Sensor Systems

2) 2012 MSc Research Excellence Award

Recipient: James Christopher Lindsay
Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering- Royal Military College of Canada
Supervisor(s): Dr. Sidney Givigi

For his outstanding Master’s research in the field of Nonholonomic Consensus in Cooperative Robotics

II. 2012 IEEE Kingston Section Outstanding Volunteer Award:

Recipient: Dr. Jordan Morelli
Assistant Professor, Department of Physics, Engineering Physics and Astronomy, Queen’s University

IEEE Kingston Section Annual Summer Banquet

Join us for a Friday night full of entertainment and fun as Emeritus Professor at Queens University Physics department David Mclay gives a talk about art, paintings and physics.

A 4-course meal will be served and a DJ will take requests for dancing music. Followed by a trivia quiz night with prizes.
